Clearly Vocal and the Swingle Singers to continue Harding University’s Lyceum series

The internationally acclaimed vocal music group the Swingle Singers will perform a concert in Harding University’s Administration Auditorium Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. Clearly Vocal, a five-member a cappella ensemble from Tyler, Texas, will be featured as the opening group.

The Swingle Singers have performed for nearly 50 years, perfecting their vocal abilities and musical selections and dedicating their time to shows throughout the world. The group has won five Grammy Awards and has produced more than 50 recordings. The a cappella ensemble includes seven members with versatile voices that produce a number of genres. The group performs folk ballads, funk jams and fugues with extreme accuracy and enthusiasm.

The award-winning vocal jazz group Clearly Vocal will be opening for the Swingle Singers. The group performs genres including jazz, pop, holiday, love songs, classical, secular and sacred. The group received the 2010 A Cappella League Showcase award and a prize for first runner-up in the River Cities Sound-Off in Shreveport, La. The group was also featured at Vocal National A Cappella Festival in Washington, D.C.

The husband and wife duo, John and Kim Hodges — Harding University alumni and the children of Martha Hodges, the University’s lectureship coordinator, and Carol Jones, director of admissions for the Harding College of Pharmacy — will be returning to Searcy to perform with Clearly Vocal.

Tickets will be available at the door for $3. Advance tickets will be sold in the music department office. Call 501-279-4343.
