Harding University presidential inauguration set for Sept. 20

Harding University is commemorating the inauguration of Dr. Bruce D. McLarty, the University’s fifth president, with a month-long celebration of events in September leading up to the inaugural ceremony Sept. 20. McLarty was named the successor to Dr. David B. Burks Nov. 1, 2012.

The following events are presented as a part of inauguration month festivities:

Sept. 5: The Merling Trio, Concert Lyceum Series, 7 p.m., Administration Auditorium, $3.
Sept. 12: “An Evening of Music,” presented by the department of music, 7 p.m., Administration Auditorium.
Sept. 16: George Will, presented by the University’s American Studies Institute Distinguished Lecture Series, 7:30 p.m., Benson Auditorium.
Sept. 17: Phil Slate, a lecture presented by the College of Bible and Ministry, 7 p.m., Cone Chapel.
Sept. 19: “Evening with the Humanities,” presented by the College of Arts and Humanities, Reynolds Recital Hall, 7 p.m.
Sept. 20: Inauguration ceremony, Benson Auditorium, 2 p.m. Reception immediately following from 3-5 p.m. in the American Heritage Cafeteria.
Sept 24: Ryan Fogg, Concert Lyceum Series, 7 p.m., Administration Auditorium, 7 p.m., $3.
Sept. 26: Dr. Richard Oster, presented as a part of Harding School of Theology’s (Memphis, Tenn.) annual W.B. West Jr. Lectures, 7:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m., W.B. West Jr. Education Center.
