The Williams Baptist College theater program will open the 2013-2014 season with the play “The Game’s Afoot” by Ken Ludwig. The production is set for Friday and Saturday, November 1 and 2, at WBC
The production is based on the life of William Gillette, who wrote and starred in a play about Sherlock Holmes.
In “The Game’s Afoot,” Gillette invites his fellow actors to his Connecticut home to celebrate Christmas, but when one of the guests is stabbed, Gillette assumes his stage persona of Holmes to track down the killer.
Mike Dixon, a sophomore from Paragould, plays Gillete. “It has been great to be involved with the play,” said Dixon, who is acting in his first theatrical production at WBC.
“This has been a fun piece,” said Melinda Williams, director of the play. “There’s a lot of physical humor and a lot of action.”
Other cast members include sophomore Nicholas Scarborough of Batesville, senior Brandt McDonald of Concord, freshman Jean Rose of Pocahontas, junior Hannah Morgan of Smithville, senior Callison Hopkins of Southhaven, Miss., sophomore Becca Cato of Jonesboro and freshman Erika Campbell of Greenwood.
Admission is $1 for students and senior citizens and $3 for general admission.
The play will begin at 7:30 p.m. each night in the OldChapel on the Williams campus.
