Harding University to host Young Adult Author Series professional development workshop

The Harding University graduate reading program’s 2015-16 Young Adult Author Series will conclude Friday, Feb. 12-13 with Kwame Alexander.

Alexander is a New York Times Bestselling author of 21 books, including “The Crossover,” which received a number of awards such as the 2015 John Newbery Medal for the Most Distinguished Contribution to American literature for Children and was chosen as an honor book for the Coretta Scott King Author Award. He currently lives in Washington, D.C., where he founded and directs Book-In-A-Day, a program that aims to teach and empower teenagers to write and publish their own books.

Alexander will discuss his background on Friday and his current work as well as how to better teach students to be writers on Saturday. The series will include a Friday night meal, a Saturday morning continental breakfast and an author information packet.
