John Brown University will host the biennial conference of the Paradosis Center titled “Engaging the Book of Acts, Engaging One Another: Catholics, Orthodox and Evangelicals,” in Siloam Springs, Arkansas from Sept. 15 – 17. Leading theologians from around the country will engage in meaningful theological discussions centered on Scripture and rooted in the great tradition.

“JBU welcomes an environment where Christians develop one another spiritually and acknowledge the authority of Scripture as we study the Book of Acts,” said Dr. Charles Raith II, JBU’s assistant professor of religion and philosophy and conference host. “The purpose of the conference is to enrich one another and move more deeply into our Christian faith.”

The Paradosis Center for Theology and Scripture is a research center that sponsors student activities, publications, research projects, lecture series and conferences to facilitate open dialogues among Christians with Catholic, Orthodox and Evangelical backgrounds. The conference will begin with an evening banquet Sept. 15 and will include two days of lectures, given by a keynote speaker and two respondents during each session. Speakers include Hans Boersma, J.I. Packer professor of theology at Regent College, Ralph Wood, professor of theology and literature at Baylor University, Fr. Andrew Louth, Orthodox chaplain and professor of theology and religion at the University of Durham, Fr. Brian Daley, Catherine F. Huisking professor of theology at the University of Notre Dame, and many more.
