Lyon hosts outdoor conference with U of A

The Lyon College Education and Adventure Program along with the University of Arkansas will host the Arkansas Adventure Programming Conference April 20-22 in Jasper at Horseshoe Canyon Ranch.

The Arkansas Adventure Programming conference is a student oriented programming weekend for individuals who want to connect with other outdoor educational enthusiasts. Conference attendees from the state of Arkansas can shareideas and practices while attendees from neighboring states can learn about what Arkansas has to offer.

The Arkansas Adventure Programming Conference will be centered around student and professional presentations.

Colleges slated to attend include the University of Arkansas, Iowa State University, University of Northern Iowa, Western Kentucky University, University of the Ozarks, Henderson State University, Rice University, City of Elgin, Texas A&M University-Commerce and Missouri State University.

The Friday, April 20 schedule includes a social, concert and dinner.

Saturday’s events begin with breakfast followed by group sessions and a Reel Rock presentation.

There also will be rock climbing, canoeing, disc golf, hiking, cycling and a Dutch oven cook-off.
