Spillman Earns History Research Grant

Dr. Daniel Spillman, chair of the history department at Williams Baptist College, has received a Lynn E. May, Jr. Study Grant from the Southern Baptist Historical Library and Archives in Nashville. Spillman’s current research project examines the history of the Jonesboro Church Wars, a series of religious-related conflicts in Jonesboro, Ark., during the Great Depression.

“I’m very grateful to the SBHLA for this grant,” said Spillman. “It was a pleasure to visit their archive in Nashville this summer and conduct research in their extensive collection of manuscripts. It was a tremendous help in my research on American fundamentalism in the 1920s and 1930s.”

Williams is a four-year, liberal arts college in Walnut Ridge.
