Harding University appoints new registrar

Harding University Provost Larry Long today named Tod Martin of York, Nebraska, as registrar effective in August.

Martin replaces Janice Hurd, who is retiring from the position after serving as University registrar for eight years.

Martin comes to Harding from York College after seven years as the school’s registrar. He was also an assistant professor in York’s business program and taught classes in management and marketing.

“Tod is a hard worker who demonstrated a keen interest in the position, good knowledge of the processes of the registrar office, excellent management and leadership skills, a strong mission fit, and the persona that would work well with the deans, IS&T, the provost office, and the entire campus,” Long said. “I believe he will be an asset to Harding for years to come.”

A 1984 alumnus of the University, Martin graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in marketing and an MBA from University of Central Arkansas in 1989. From 1989-99, he held the position of assistant to the dean of Harding’s nursing school and was responsible for recruiting and marketing for the program. In addition to his registrar position at York, Martin also served as director of admissions from 2002-06 and director of external relations from 2006-07.
