Harding University names new library director

Harding University Vice President of Information Systems and Technology Keith Cronk announced Nov. 13 that Jean Waldrop, public services librarian at the University, would become director of Brackett Library following the retirement of Ann Dixon at the end of the semester.

Waldrop, formerly of Rockwell, Texas, graduated from Harding in 1983 with a degree in elementary education. She then went to Texas A&M University-Commerce and earned a Master of Science in learning technology and information systems.

In August 2006, Waldrop began working in the University’s Brackett Library. Prior to her position as public services librarian, she served in the roles of reference librarian and e-resources and serials librarian.

Dixon retires after 20 years working for Harding. After graduating from the University with her bachelor’s in 1968, she went on to receive her master’s training at Texas Woman’s University, graduating in 1996 with a Master of Library Science.

Harding is the largest private university in Arkansas with 6,295 students. The University also maintains campuses in Australia, Chile, England, France, Greece, Italy and Zambia.
