Harding University to raise awareness for the fight against cancer

Harding University students will unite to fight cancer for the University’s fourth annual Relay for Life event on the front lawn Oct. 12 from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Harding students will comprise the majority of participants, forming teams to collect money through fundraisers, donations and sponsorships. The theme for this year’s event is “Come to the Greatest Cause on Earth.” Each team will choose a corresponding circus-related subtheme to decorate its booth.

During the event, several bands will perform, and the teams will raise money by offering food, games, bounce houses, pie-a-friend and other activities.

In case of rain, Relay for Life will be held in the Ganus Athletic Center.

Relay for Life raises money and awareness for the American Cancer Society. Participants have the opportunity to honor those who have been affected by cancer and raise money to help those in need. Team members take turns walking or running around a track for a 24-hour period. Each team is asked to have a member on the track at all times.
