An entourage of 80 students, faculty and staff from Williams Baptist College made their way to Memphis Monday, February 20, to visit the National Civil Rights Museum.  The visit was part of WBC’s observance of Black History Month.

“It was wonderful having such a large and diverse group spending this time together.  There was just an enormous response, and it was very impactful,” said Dean of Students Amber Grady.

The trip was sponsored by WBC’s Office of Student Affairs and the college’s Department of History.

“It was definitely a record number for this trip, and we were very pleased with the level of interest from our students.  They were genuinely interested.  We were gratified with the way they all responded to the exhibits and to having this experience,” Grady said.

The National Civil Rights Museum is located at the site of the Lorraine Motel, where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., was assassinated in 1968.

The trip was part of a series of events at Williams in February commemorating Black History Month.

Williams is a liberal arts college in Walnut Ridge.
