Dr. Chris Thompson, associate professor of music at Williams Baptist College, was recently installed as state president of the Arkansas Federation of Music Clubs. His installation took place at the 92nd annual AFMC state convention, which was held in April in Little Rock.
The AFMC was founded in 1915 and provides opportunities for musical study, performance and appreciation. The organization is made up of five districts and 19 senior clubs with over 500 senior members. In addition, Arkansas has 100 junior clubs with approximately 2,000 junior members.
Thompson previous previously serves as AFMC vice president from 2014-1016. He also serves as president of the Walnut Ridge Schubert Music Club, which was founded in 1928.
