WBC Library Participates in Diversity Awareness

The Felix Goodson Library at Williams Baptist College will participate in diversity awareness events throughout the spring. WBC’s library has paired with the Northeast Arkansas Regional Intermodal Facilities Authority to promote the series, “Opening Hearts and Minds: Making Cultural Connections.”

WBC will host a lunch-and-learn event on Wed., March 2, from 11 a.m to 1 p.m., in the Moody Dining Room of the Mabee-Gwinup Cafeteria. Dr. Jan Ziegler, retired vice president for development and professor at Black River Technical College in Pocahontas, will lead a book discussion over “Enrique’s Journey,” by Sonia Nazario.

“Enrique’s Journey,” is about a Honduran boy’s struggle to find his mother in the U.S. Published as a series in the Los Angeles Times, “Enrique’s Journey” won the Pulitzer Prize for feature writing in 2003, and was later turned into a book by Random House to become a national bestseller.

As a part of the cultural connections series, Nazario will have a meet and greet on Thursday., April 7, at BRTC. The event will last from 9:30 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.
